Ribbon Types Explained
YMCKO (Full Color)
Yellow, Magenta, Cyan, blacK, Overlay. The standard ribbon for full-color photo ID cards. The overlay panel adds a protective clear coat.
YMCKOK (Dual-Sided Color)
Same as YMCKO with an extra black panel for printing on the back of the card. Use this for dual-sided printing with color on front and black text/barcode on back.
Half-Panel YMCKO
Color panels are half-sized for cards with a photo on one portion and black text on the rest. More economical if your card design allows it.
Monochrome (K)
Single color ribbons – black, white, silver, gold, blue, red. For text-only cards, barcodes, or special effects. Much higher yield per ribbon.
Retransfer Film
For retransfer printers like HDP5000 and Evolis Avansia. The image prints onto a film that then transfers to the card for edge-to-edge, over-the-edge printing.
